FORTY years of unselfish giving to students of Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center!

One cannot even calculate how many volunteer hours went into this amazing undertaking. Volunteers who give unselfishly of their time, energy, muscles, sweat, and tears. Tears of joy and amazement when a young child who could not support himself in a sitting position a year ago can now walk! CAN-NOW- WALK!

Therapists from Children’s Hospital, who did not believe equine therapy could affect this amazing outcome, visited Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center. They witnessed how the horse can provide three-dimensional therapy to the body. A movement that cannot be reproduced any other way.

Passion, Passion, Passion!

Jason Moore exudes passion as he talks about Sickle Cell Warriors of Buffalo.

The vice president of the non-profit explains that “Sickle Cell Disease is the most commonly inherited disease in the world.”

Red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body; in Sickle Cell Disease, the red blood cells are mutated into a crescent or sickle-shaped form, and therefore cannot carry enough oxygen to the tissues and organs of the body – potentially leading to anemia, and tissue and organ damage. This often requires regular blood transfusions to manage extreme pain and life-threatening complications.
